The University of Illinois
at Springfield is a university that attracts students from many different
backgrounds. The MIS department is no different. With an aggregate enrollment
that includes traditional, nontraditional, full-time, part-time, online,
off-line, and a vast
array of international students, such an environment leads to a very enriched
learning experience. Life as a MIS student at UIS provides many opportunities
to become an active part of the community. There are multiple organizations,
committees, and clubs available to all current MIS students. You will
have the opportunity to make a difference, whether as a student representative
on a particular committee, or as a member of any of the number of organizations

COMMITTEES The MIS Faculty Search Committee recruits new faculty members for the
MIS program. This committee meets at the convenience of it members,
three to five times a semester. The student representative is elected
by his or her peers for a one-year appointment. Elections are held during
the second week of the fall semester. Anyone interested in serving should
write your name on the nomination forms that are distributed during
the first week of the fall semester. MIS Program Executive Committee The Management Information Systems Program Executive Committee evaluates program faculty and makes recommendations regarding retention, promotion, tenure, and salary adjustments. This committee meets at the convenience of its members, usually during the day, three to five times a semester. The student representative is elected by his or her peers for a one-year appointment. ORGANIZATIONS & CLUBS Management Information Systems (MIS) Club UIS Chapter of the Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP) All MIS majors are invited to join the UIS chapter of the AITP, which is affiliated with the Capitol Chapter of the AITP. http://aitpcapitol.org.
