The MIS Department has developed a new course entitled MIS 584 MIS Capstone. This course is an alternative to the MIS Project Course and can now be used to complete the Closure Requirement for the M.S. in MIS degree.  The course will be taught for the first time in the Spring 2003 semester and is in the new Spring 2003 course schedule.  For this initial semester, it will be offered on-campus only on Monday evenings.  Enrollment will be capped at 25 students.  Since this is a closure course, the prerequisite is at least 32 hours of 500 level coursework in MIS successfully completed by the start of the Spring 2003 semester.  Depending on the Department’s experience with the Capstone course, we anticipate an online section of the MIS Capstone may also be offered in the future.

This course may be an option for those of you who are having difficulties with completing your master's project.  However, be forewarned that the course will be very work-intensive and you should allow sufficient time (approximately 15 - 20 hours a week) to meet the course requirements.  In order to pass the course, you need to receive a grade of B or better.  An incomplete grade will be granted only for an emergency reason and you must be current in your assignments at the time of emergency. Except for extraordinary circumstances, it is anticipated that an Incomplete grade will require you to enroll in the course again and retake the course in its entirety.

The following is the course description:

Assignments include paper critiques, group discussions, and a final paper or project. This course is primarily for MIS majors and should be taken in the last semester of the MIS degree program.
