Department Head

Dr. Rassule Hadidi

Hello, I am Rassule Hadidi, Head of the Department of Management Information Systems of the College of Business and Management at the University of Illinois Springfield. On behalf of the MIS Department faculty and staff, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to our Department Web site and encourage you to learn about our face-to-face, online, blended degree programs and certificates.

We currently offer a Bachelor of Science Degree Program in MIS as well as a concentration in Health Care Informatics, a Master of Science Degree Program in MIS, a minor at the undergraduate level in Management Information Systems and three Graduate Certificates in the areas of Business Process management, IT Project Management, and Business Intelligence. You have the option of taking all your courses online, on-campus, or some online and some on-campus courses.

The goal of our graduate program is to prepare you for challenging positions in the application of information technology to solving business problems. In the Bachelor's degree program, you will learn the fundamental principles of computer hardware and software systems and how to apply them to operational decision-making. Health Care Informatics is an evolving specialization that links information technology, communication, and health care to improve the quality and safety of patient care. Our minor in MIS is designed to complement your primary area of study by providing a background in and understanding of decision making processes in organizations, organizational needs for information systems development, and application of modern MIS concepts and tools to meet organizational needs.

Our Information Technology Project Management certificate provides you with the fundamental knowledge you will need to manage the development and delivery of Information Technology and related projects. We have designed our Certificate in Business Process Management to provide you with the expertise you will need to successfully analyze, define, and design organizational processes and to apply Information Technology to effectively and efficiently solve business problems. The Business Intelligence Certificate provides business and technology practitioners with the fundamental knowledge and skills needed to collaborate in the design, development, and adoption of BI applications in organizations.

Our courses are developed and delivered by our highly qualified and exceptional faculty members who have been teaching online and face-to-face for more than several decades. Our online courses are developed by the same highly qualified faculty who teach our on-campus courses. Our online courses are very interactive and are well known for learning effectiveness. During the course of the semester, you will be interacting and collaborating with your peers in your courses and will be regularly interacting with your course instructor and your course contents. Our research indicates that these interactions are essential for effective online learning.

I hope you will take advantage of these interactions and collaborative learning opportunities available to you in our courses and I wish you a very successful experience with your University of Illinois degree program.
