Course Description:
MIS 571 (4 Credit Hrs) Electronic Commerce: Business Uses of the
Internet
Tools and technologies needed for Electronic Commerce are reviewed.
Business opportunities, challenges, and strategies for use of the information
superhighway will be explored. Strategies and vision on how to leverage
the emerging national and global information infrastructure will be discussed.
Other topics include the impact of the emerging electronic market and commerce
reengineering in today's corporations. Prerequisites

Course Objectives:

To assist you to understand how the Internet can be put to work for
a particular business, governmental, or a not-for-profit agency.

To enhance your understanding of "Virtual Organization" and advantages
of the global customer base.

To introduce risk, security, and privacy concepts and methodologies
on the Internet.

To provide you with the technical skills needed to set up a World Wide
Web Server and to do business on the Internet.
Prerequisites:
Graduate standing and familiarity with the use of a computer and
the Internet, or with permission of the nstructor.
Audience
This course is designed for the College of Business and Management
graduate students. Other graduate students are welcome to take the course
only if they meet the prerequisites.
Time Requirements
This course will require a reasonable amount of time for reading
and completion of the assignments. In addition to the required text, on-line
articles are assigned for each week. These articles need to be carefully
reviewed for in-class and/or on-line discussions.
